Porche will its most track-focused model in the 911range, the 911 GT2 RS in the country on July 10.

The model which has a limited production run enjoys a great demand globally and it is the most track-focused model in the 911 line-up.





The model was first revealed a year ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and sits at the top of the 911 range.  Powering the sportscar is a 3.8-litre, flat-six, twin turbocharged engine which is also used in the 911 Turbo.


Porsche has however calibrated the turbocharged unit which now makes maximum power of 686bhp against top torque of 750Nm. This unit comes paired to the ZF sourced seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that has also been tweaked. The ZF unit transmits power to the rear wheels.


Among other significant changes, the 911 GT2 RS sees substantial reduction in weight over the standard 911.


The drop in weight is achieved with the use of lightweight materials such as carbon-fibre. Bonnet, front wings, exterior mirror housings and air duct surrounds make use of carbon-fibre.

It additionally gets titanium exhaust that now weighs 7 kg lighter than before.


Porsche offers the new 911 GT2 RS sportscar in standard and Weissach package which comes with a host of customization options and a bunch of carbon fibre parts.

It also gets the PTS of Porsche Paint To Sample option that will allow customers to paint their 911s in the shade of their choice at an additional cost.


There is yet no clarity which package out of the two (PTS options or Weissach package) will cars allotted for the Indian market get.
